The series of conferences The judaism and the dramatic arts will offer an approach to the relationship of Judaism with artistic and dramatic expression, both from the position of a Jewish author, as from the projection that the works treated give to concrete aspects of Judaism.

Imma Merino is a journalist and film critic. Degree in Philosophy from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Phd in Communication from the Pompeu Fabra University. He writes regularly on film and cultural topics in the daily El Punt. She is Professor of Film History and Media Analysis at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Girona.

Screening of the film Yentl (based on the story by I. B. Singer, directed by Barbara Streissand, 1984).
Synopsis: Eastern Europe, 1904. A Jewish woman, Yentl, has a thirst for knowledge but is prohibited from learning due to the restrictions of her religion. When her father dies, she sets off to increase her knowledge, posing as a man in order to gain admission to a Jewish religious school.
