Shlomo Avayou (Izmir, 1939) is a poet and translator. His mother tongue is Judeo-Spanish, and he immigrated to Israel with his family in 1949. He has published, among others, Eshev ‘al ha-saf (Grass on the threshold, 1973), Zekhife Ahavah u-netifim (Stalagmites of love, 1991), Ahavah lo khalah (Not an easy love, 2014). Some of his works have been translated into Castilian. As a translator into Hebrew, he has translated part of the works by Joan Margarit (from Catalan language), as well as several contemporary Spanish and Turkish poets.
Joan Margarit (Sanaüja, 1938) is an architect and above all a poet, awarded with the National Literature Prize of Catalonia (2008). His literary work has been translated into several languages, including Hebrew: Meolam lo raiti atsmi Yevani (I Have Never Seen Myself as a Greek, 2004), Mabat Ba-Mara ha-Penimit (The eyes at the rear mirror, 2008), and Ze lo haya rajok ze lo haya kashe (It was not far nor difficult, 2011), all translated by the Israeli poet Shlomo Avayou.
