Moments de vida d'Ermessenda de Vilamarí, monja de Sant Daniel (S. XIV)

Lecture by Anna Gironella related to the exhibition "Medieval Girona"

Thursday, March 13,
Call de Girona

On 17th December 1345, Ermessenda de Vilamarí, nun from the monastery of St. Daniel of Girona ordered an alabaster tomb for the remains of St. Daniel to the master Aloi. The contract specifies which scenes from the life of the saint she wanted to be represented on the tomb, as they appeared in a book of Sacristans. This episode will reconstruct the life of a Benedictine nun and it portrayed a fragment of the history of the monastery of St. Daniel.
