Title: The Bride of the Wind: The life and times of Alma Mahler
Author: Susan Keegan
First published: 1992

After ten years of research and direct contact with Alma Mahler's daughter and grand-daughter, this is the absorbent biography, read as a novel, about one of the most fascinating women of the 20th century Europe. Born in the Habsburg's Austria in 1879 and dead in New York in 1964, during her long life Alma Mahler Werfel was married to the composer Gustav Mahler, to the architect Walter Gropius and to the writer Franz Werfel. Also mistress of the painter Oskar Kokoschka, she was very close to the 20th century most important music, painting, architecture and literature movements, and she was friends with some of the most important European artists.

Despite being a controversial figure, as she prompted extreme feelings in all people who had met her, anyone who had known her was able to forget her.
