January 27th is the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, date chosen to commemorate the liberation of the camp extermination of Auschwitz-Birkenau (Poland) in 1945. It is a Day to keep alive the memory of this barbarism and educate for the future, against intolerance, discrimination and racism.
At 1 p.m. the Vice Mayor Mr. Eduard Berloso will light a candle in tribute to the victims, in an installation of memory where, individually, all the people who wish may be able to participate.
The Museum of Jewish History will have Open Doors from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
On Thursday, January 31, at 6:30 p.m., the sociologist Marta Simó will give a lecture on La població catalana i el seu encontre amb l’Holocaust (in Catalan language). This lecture will open new series of conferences 2019, under the title Catalonia and Judaism: shared identities, diverse relationships.
