Keystone. 15 th century. Stone

The activities carried out in Girona were varied. The cloth mills were important, as were the paper and flour mills, all of them being driven by the water of the Monar stream. Stonemasons also occupied an important position due to the immense amount of building work done in medieval Girona and the city’s commercial progress, which promoted the appearance of new trades and guilds for their organisation. The inhabitants earned their living from farming and an intelligent division of labour with considerable diversification of trades.
