Open doors and various activities between Friday 10 and Sunday 12 October
The Girona History Museum , the Casa Masó and the Jewish History Museum joins the European Heritage Days 2025
Girona City Council joins the European Heritage Days, which this year take place from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 October, with free activities at different municipal museum facilities, such as the Girona History Museum, Casa Masó or the Jewish History Museum. In fact, the theme of the days this year is "Architectural Heritage", to put the focus on the diversity of buildings that surround us.
In this sense, the deputy mayor and councilor for Culture of Girona City Council, Quim Ayats Bartrina, has stressed that "knowing our heritage environment allows us to know part of the Girona identity that has endured over the years" and has invited Girona citizens to participate in the days.
The Girona History Museum will take advantage of the European Heritage Days to organize open doors at the museum under the title "Windows to the past. Doors to the future". In this sense, the museum will be open to the public and will have free admission without the need for prior reservation on Friday, October 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, October 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
In addition, 3 guided tours have also been scheduled for the occasion: this is the visit “The Institute before and now”, on Friday, October 10 at 11 a.m., with sold out places; the visit “The voice of the old building” on Saturday 11th at 11 am and 5 pm, in which there are still places left that can be reserved at web2.girona.cat/museuhistoria and the theatrical visit “La Queta, la Consol i les vivències d’un temps de guerra” for Sunday 12th, at 11 am, which has also sold out.
Casa Masó will give free guided tours this Friday, October 10th, at 11:30 am, 1 pm, 4 pm and 5:30 pm. Places are limited and it is essential to make a prior reservation through the Foundation’s website.
The Jewish History Museum will also hold two open days, which will be open on Saturday 11th, from 10am to 6pm, and Sunday 12th, from 10am to 2pm. In addition, to close the cultural weekend, on Sunday 12th October, at 10.30am, a theatrical visit entitled “A bath of stories to discover life in the medieval Call” will be organised, which aims to tell the story of Estel·lina, a Jewish woman who lived in the Call of Girona in the mid-15th century, recalling her life and that of her community. A funeral tombstone and some documents that speak of her private life and family environment have been left of her. Places to participate in this activity are sold out.
The European Heritage Days are an initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission that has been held continuously in Catalonia since 1991 and is considered the most important participatory activity in Europe in relation to cultural heritage.
