Nights of Music in the Jewish quarter are back with a VIVES! piece

Today, at 9 pm, a piece taken from this work in progress will be presented in the courtyard of the Centre Bonastruc ça Porta

Nights of Music in the Jewish quarter returns today with "Vives!", a project born from the will to explore artistically, from different disciplines, the springs of resilience, solidarity, dignity and the spirit of survival of the human soul in a context of great injustice, suffering and death. It is inspired by the women who, like Neus Català and Charlotte Delbo, not only fought and survived the unimaginable, but also recounted their experience and that of their companions with all the harshness.

This artistic project is an original idea by Gisela Vicenç and Montse Canals that involves a whole multidisciplinary team. The artistic direction is in charge of Montse Colomé, and has the interpretation of Montse Canals and Natalia Entrocassi (dance) and Gisela Vicenç (rhapsody). The music is an original composition created by Xavi Molina.

The "Vives!" performance, which will be presented tonight in the courtyard of the Centre Bonastruc ça Porta, is a piece taken from this work in progress. The public will be able to discover, enjoy and see, from within, the creative process, research and rehearsals of the first residency of the entire artistic and technical team.

With this capsule, the Nights of Music in the Jewish quarter return this August with more than twenty years of tradition.

A second show is planned for Thursday, August 26, this time with Rosa Zaragoza who will present her new project “Pura i senzilla com Abigail”, inspired by poems by Catalan Jews from medieval times, translated by Jaume Riera and Eduard Feliu. It wants be also a tribute to the Catalan historians and hebraists who have contributed to the recovery of this rich cultural legacy.
