What would you do if you found a fragment of pottery over 600 years old?
For weeks now, we have been excavating the museum courtyard where the mikveh is located, the space that served as the ritual bath of the Girona synagogue. Archaeologists have found many fragments of broken pottery inside the channel that collected rainwater to supply the ritual pool. Among the pile of ceramics that ended up there to purify the water, a small fragment has caught their attention.
Can you help us uncover the mystery it holds?
