Screening of 'The Illegals'

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Wednesday, January 27,
Museu d'Història dels Jueus

On the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, January 27, 2021, we will remember the six million of Jewish victims and the millions of other victims of the Nazi regime.

This year, due to the limitations imposed by social distance, an online commemorative event will be held.

The Barcelona Jewish Film Festival in cooperation with the Israeli Film Archive and The Jerusalem Cinematheque, will screen the restored version of "The illegals" subtitled into Spanish, with a subsequent discussion by Professor Frank Stern and Mr. Gabriel Levin (in English).

The illegals is an extraordinary historical document that combines fiction and documentary. The director portrays the odyssey of the Jewish survivors from the Nazi camps across Europe, and accompanies 853 Jewish refugees, including 150 children, in a small cargo ship on their journey to "Eretz Israel" (British Mandate of Palestine). Director Meyer Levin participated in the liberation of the Nazi camps as an American journalist, and decided to tell in "The illegals" the story of the fate of the survivors after the war.

A limited number of access codes to the film will be distributed.
To access the screening, request it by email: office@fcjbarcelona.org
