Peace

Tapestry by Francine Lambert recently donated by Odile Armand to Municipal Art Collection.

Foto

Belgian artist Francine Lambert, representing one of the world's most prestigious tapestry schools, has lived for many years in the Empordà where she has successfully merged modern tapestry with the Catalan artistic tradition. The compositions of her high-warp mural tapestries, with their subtle colours and frequent tri-dimensional effects, are inspired by the features of the Empordà landscape (woodlands, olive groves, etc.).
Outstanding in Lambert's production are her large volumetric pieces, which can be regarded as true textile sculptures. The tapestry on display here, entitled Peace, reflects the main characteristics of Lambert's work, in many cases a synthesis of volumes and flat surfaces that creates an iconography between the abstract and the naturalistic.
