The summer programme has attracted a total of 5,000 people so far

The summer programme at the City History Museum will be coming to a close in the last week in September, in the framework of the European Heritage Days in Catalonia. The programme has attracted a total of 5,000 people so far, of whom nearly a thousand came for the scheduled activities, while the remainder comprised people visiting the temporary exhibition.

Guided tours were arranged in July and August to the temporary exhibition De Kerunta a Gerunda. Els orígens de la ciutat (‘From Kerunta to Gerunda. The origins of the city’), and in line with recent trends the highlight proved to be the dramatised activities, always very popular with museum visitors. We also brought back a tour first run last year, on Tuesday evenings: Girona en guerra (‘Girona at war’), a compelling review of the episodes experienced during the Civil War and Franco’s dictatorship in our city, down to the time of the transition towards democracy. And on Thursday evenings, the tour «A la recerca de la tessel·la perduda» (‘In search of the lost tessera’) was offered again, it being an entertaining theme-based tour on the city’s Roman period, lasting from the first to the seventh centuries. This family activity will also be scheduled for next Sunday, 30 September, at 12:00, with free admission for all. Also free is the guided tour that will be staged on the same day, at 18:00, led by one of the curators of the temporary exhibition now running.
September also brought a new round of our stories for adults Contes per als que no estan d’històries (‘Stories for people who’ve no time for old tales’), and a morning version of the tour Girona en guerra (‘Girona at war’), which was held on 11 September, Catalonia’s national holiday.
