Grau-Garriga In memoriam

Twenty original works from 1980-2011, including three tapestries and a sketch from Girona collections.

07 MARCH 2012 – 03 JUNE 2012   (Sala d'exposicions)

The pictorial and textile work of Grau- Garriga (Sant Cugat, 1929 -Saint-Mathurin-sur-Loire, Francia, 2011) gained an exceptionally solid reputation over time, becoming a reference in contemporary artistic research in Catalonia and internationally. Gallery owner Josep Canals' selection of paintings and tapestries shows the different production stages of this renovator and instructor in the art of tapestry, who died last year in France at the age of 82. Grau-Garriga's works combine materials, textures and shapes and were a true renovation in the concept of tapestry, acknowledged worldwide and praised by artists such as Antoni Tàpies and Joan Miró. His works are displayed in major museums all over the world.
