21 finalists in the competition of the International Festival of Girona Mapping


Of the finalists, who are from Catalonia, the rest of Spain, France, Italy, Poland and Brazil, 16 are involved in the professional category and 5 in the open category. The June 30th is the deadline for the call to select a visual artist to engage in Girona Creative Bòlit Residence.

On June 4th has been held a press conference in the city of Girona to present the finalists of the International Festival of Girona Mapping (FIMG). The mayor of Girona, Carles Puigdemont, and the festival and BLOOM director, Richard Hebert, have presented the amount of proposals received: a total of 36 proposals at the Professional and Open categories, most of which come from Catalonia, although there are proposals from the rest of Spain, Italy, France, Mexico, Morocco, Poland and Brazil. "We are very pleased with the response obtained. It is a very special and unique festival in Europe. The prestige of the jury will also make its verdict a reference in the sector. We say that Girona is open to the world and break into the field of visual arts and video art", stressed the mayor.

In the professional category have been registered 21 projects of companies and professionals dedicated to the audiovisual world and mapping, from which the jury has selected 16 finalists. In the open category, for non-professionals, 15 projects have signed and the jury has selected five finalists. Therefore, during the FIMG a total of 21 finalists will be screened in the competition. The centres that take part in the educational category are: Annexa-Joan Puigbert, Mare de Déu del Mont, Pericot, Taialà, Vila-roja, Vicens Vives Secondary and Santiago Sobrequés Secondary.
