The judaism and the press in Europe during the second half of 20th century

Series of lectures at the Jewish quarter of Girona


The Nahmanides Institute for Jewish Studies, together with the Chair Ferrater Mora of Contemporary Thoughts from the University of Girona programmes each year a series of lectures focusing on a theme related to the Jewish culture. From January to May 2011, there will be five conferences focused on analyzing how the Judaism and the Jewish question has been treated in various European media in the second half of 20th century.

The first conference is Les Juifs dans la presse d'Europe: de la Guerre des Six Jours à l'offensive de Gaza by Esther Benbassa, Director of Studies at the Practical School of Higher Studies (Paris). This conference will be presented on Thursday 27 January 2011 at 7 pm at the Fontana d'Or, under the program of activities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Ferrater Mora Chair of Contemporary Thought.

Regular attendance at all the lectures and the completion of a paper focusing on one of the topics presented will entitle participants to obtain one academic credit recognized by the University of Girona (UdG) [more information: Ferrater Mora Chair].
