Museum of Archaeology (Girona)

Founded in 1846, this is one of the oldest museums in Catalonia. It houses archaeological finds from excavations in the region of Girona, from prehistory up to the Middle Ages, in particular from Empúries and Girona.

Opening Hours

May to September: Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 to 19.00 h; Sunday and holidays from 10.00 to 14.00 h.

October to April: Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 to 18.00 h; Sunday and holidays from 10.00 to 14.00 h.

Closed Mondays (including holidays), 25 and 26 December and 1 and 6 January.

Free admission the first Sunday of each month.

Entrance Fees

MAC ticket 5x1 - Pay 1 ticket and visit the 5 museums

Normal admission: 6 €

Reduced admission: 4 € (People aged 65 or more, pensioners, the holders of the Youth Card, students with International Student Card, people with large family or parent, no tourist groups of 10 or more people by appointment and

Entry tourist groups: 4 € (Groups who hire entry through brokerage firms tourism or similar)

Free admission: First Sunday of the month, persons under 16 years, the unemployed, ICOM members or duly accredited ICOMOS, AMC Accredited Members, accredited tour guides, formal education teachers duly accredited, Accredited press professionals, people with disability certificate (the companion will also have free admission if the certificate states that the person needs companion), accredited host families, groups of students from general education system scheme and Members of the Catalan Society of Archeology

Open day: First Sunday of the month, Saint George (April 23), International Day and Night of Museums, National Day of Catalonia (11th of September), San Narciso (October 29) and European Heritage Days.
