Getting Around

Girona is an accessible city, with short distances and transport options for going further afield. In addition, Girona is very close to the beach, which is only a half-hour drive away, and heading inland the Garrotxa volcanic area with its spectacular landscape is also nearby. The Pyrenees, Figueres, and even the mountain of Montserrat and the city of Barcelona, are just some of the day-trips that can be made from Girona.

Taxis

Taxi ranks can be found at the ADIF Girona railway station, the bus station and in the city centre in Plaça Independència and Carrer Joan Maragall.

Local and intercity buses

Girona has 10 local bus routes which enable visitors to move around all its different neighbourhoods easily. Single tickets and travel cards can be purchased from the bus driver when boarding. Girona also has several bus routes connecting the city with the surrounding area and the rest of Catalonia.

Parking zones

The city provides several free parking zones in addition to paid parking in blue zones and privately run car parks.

Caravan and motorhome parking

Caravans and motorhomes can park in the city in the parking lot of the Girona-Fontajau Sports Pavilion or in the caravan area on Carrer Riera Bullidors, 31-39. Maximum parking time allowed is 72 hours.

In the Girona-Fontajau area only parking is allowed, whereas the area on Carrer Riera Bullidors is equipped with services such as drinking water and grey water emptying and it has 60 spaces.

Caravan and motorhome parking is not allowed in any other public space in the city.

Accessibility

There are parking spaces and reserved parking areas for people with limited mobility throughout the city of Girona. The city also provides accessible pedestrian signals for the visually impaired.

Bicycle rental

Girona has a network of cycle lanes that make moving around the city by bicycle easy, practical and safe.

For longer stays in Girona it is possible to subscribe to the public bicycle service, Girocleta, which provides bicycles for short journeys at stations located throughout the city.
