Artist Jana Leo's contribution to the exhibition Extra-ordinary Journey takes the shape of a creative exploration in the city of Girona. Based on her theory that rather than seeking out the unknown, most tourists are actually looking for a normal, everyday life in an ideal state, she interviewed tourists and asked them what it meant to them to be a tourist.
The artist is now keen to pursue the project further by interviewing tourists at the city's Tourist Office, an interesting take since this is a place where tourists are normally the ones asking the questions rather than answering them. When asked for their opinions, tourists have to reflect on their experience and put it into words. If anything characterises tourists, it is the fact that they aren't bound by any responsibilities.
