The Giang brothers set a new Guinness world record on the steps of Girona Cathedral

04/01/17 | Girona was the setting for a spectacular feat that made it into the 2016 Guinness World Records: climbing the 90 steps of the Cathedral with one brother balanced atop the other with only head-to-head contact in just 52 seconds.

On Thursday 22 December, the Giang brothers, two artists from one of Vietnam's best-known circuses, managed to beat the record for climbing steps while balanced head to head. The challenge consisted of scaling the greatest number of steps possible in one minute. The previous record was set by a pair of Chinese artists, Tang Tao and Su Zengxian, who in 2014, in the city of Xiamen (China), took one minute to ascend 25 steps in this exceedingly difficult position.

The Giang brothers smashed the existing record by climbing the 90 steps of the Cathedral in less than a minute; in fact, they did it in just 52 seconds. This impressive achievement will appear in the Guinness Book of Records. The two artists had been performing in the Great Christmas Circus which is held every year at the end of December in the city of Girona.
