Girona boosts its international standing as a Sports Tourism Destination
27/10/16 | In 2015 the city of Girona was officially certified as a Sports Tourism Destination (DTE) by the Catalan Tourism Agency.
Girona City Council is developing an action plan designed to capture two types of public: on the one hand, the aim is to attract families and quality tourists interested in practicing sports; and on the other, to capture professional sportspeople and position Girona as a training destination.
Girona was present at a specialised workshop on sports tourism organised by the Catalan Tourism Agency in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona). During the event a series of interviews were scheduled with different intermediaries and professional agencies which allowed Girona to present itself as a Sports Tourism Destination (DTE).
Girona City Council's goal is to position the city on the sports tourism world map. With this action the aim is to attract families and quality tourists and to capture professional sportspeople.
