Girona, one of Europe's ten best city-break destinations, according to The Guardian

30/03/16 | The prestigious British newspaper has published an article that recommends visiting the city's modernist architecture, Jewish History Museum and cathedral

Girona is one of the ten cities chosen by British newspaper The Guardian as the best European destinations for a city break. The cathedral, modernist architecture and Jewish History Museum are some of the city's sights that travel journalist Will Coldwell highlights in the article that recommends visiting Girona.

Illustrated with an image of the steps in Pujada de Sant Martí, the text also refers to Girona's gastronomy and nightlife —specifically mentioning the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, the Sunset Jazz Club and the La Fŕbrica cafe — as well as the city's qualities as a great place to practice sport.

In his article, Coldwell also writes that Girona offers visitors an insight into Catalan culture without the hordes of tourists that descend on Barcelona in high season, and he suggests combining a stay in the city with a trip to the Costa Brava.

The other cities recommended in the article are Valletta (Malta), Marseille (France), Wrocław (Poland), Bologna (Italy), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Brno (Czech Republic), Tallinn (Estonia) and Graz (Austria).
