Visitmuseum: new audio guides at the Museum of Jewish History

A new approach to the main thematic areas and the most outstanding objects, with a fresh and innovative narrative

We are launching a new audio guide system that will replace the former one from 2000. With a new and external perspective, the contents review the narrative discourse of the Museum and complement it from innovative and inclusive perspectives, incorporating the gender perspective and life storytelling. It focuses on new aspects such as the weight of the converted society in the history of Girona, the importance of the 1391 events in front of 1492, as well as in the particularities of Catalan Jewish history or the transcendence of the names and people’s lives. This new version incorporates the most recent knowledge resulted from the latest documentary and archaeological findings, and highlights new spaces such as the mikweh or ritual bath.

The audio guides are free and available at the museum reception, in English, French, Catalan, Spanish and Hebrew. They have been produced with the cultural application Visitmuseum, promoted by the Generalitat of Catalonia. Patronat Call de Girona has taken over the Hebrew language version. The application, which can also be downloaded on smartphones, provides practical information for the visit and links to share the experience through social networks.
