‘Girona, Temps de Flors’ consolidates its huge success
31/05/17 | The Girona Flower Time exhibition has closed a new edition marked by huge crowds of visitors and an increase in the number of overnight stays in the city.
The church of Sant Lluc, the cloister and basements of the Cathedral, and the Girona History Museum were the most visited spaces in the 62nd edition of the event. Tourism from Asia, in turn, rose by 83% compared with last year.
As regards municipal museums, these received a total of 217,446 visitors. The city’s accommodation establishments reached average occupation levels of 88.45%, almost four points above the average from last year (84.59%). As part of the ‘Gastroflors’ event, a total of 17,000 special menus were served, while the ‘Flors de nit’ initiative resulted in the sale of 4,200 drinks that included flowers as a special ingredient (10% more than the previous years’ edition).
Finally, thanks to the increased number of tourist trains and the new stops during Girona Flower Time, there was also a noteworthy increase in the number of users of these urban trains compared with the previous year, at 37.90%.
