New leisure activities promote the 5th edition of Girona10

Girona10 is a tourism promotion event in the city that is fast becoming an authentic winter festival. Some of the planned activities, such as guided tours of the Cathedral, musical performances, visits to Casa Masó and the chance to obtain tickets for just €10 to attend shows at the city's theatre and auditorium, have all been a huge success. In the latter case, the number of tickets sold this year (419) is more than twice that of 2014 (161) and well above the figure reached in 2015 (328).
The number of visitors enjoying themed night-time tours of the Cathedral surpassed the expected figure of 660 people, finally reaching 766 participants, in addition to the 1,034 people who visited the Cathedral during the day between Friday 29 and Sunday 31 January. Other initiatives that have been very well received by the public include the pilot runs of accessible guided tours of the historic centre and Ribes del Ter park for people with hearing and physical disabilities; a total of 38 people took part in these tours, 21 of whom have a hearing disability.
The figures for hotel occupancy were similar to those recorded in previous editions of the campaign, with 75% occupancy on Friday night and 95% on Saturday night.
With regard to the special restaurant offers, in this edition a total of 2,952 prizes were awarded (5,904 menus for €10), although, in the end, between Friday lunchtime and Sunday night more than 10,000 menus at this promotional price were served in restaurants taking part in the campaign, and it is estimated that a further 10,000 menus could have been served in non-participating restaurants. The commercial sector, with 56 participating establishments, also reported positive results from this initiative.
In addition, there was a great deal of interest in the sports activities organised as part of the campaign, with more than 600 participants in total. One new event for this year was the first edition of the Carnival Race, which was held on Sunday 31 January.
