Girona has its own IgersMap, the first map in the world created by and for instagrammers

02/11/15 | With the launch of its own IgersMap, Girona has become one of the first six cities in Spain to offer a map of the most interesting points in the city chosen by users of the social network Instagram.

IgersMap is a collaborative project designed to show cities through the eyes of local instagrammers who, in response to the question "where would you take a fellow instagrammer visiting the city to take the best photos", have uploaded a maximum of five images of their favourite spots. The aim is to collaborate with all the members of the IgersMap community (both locals and visitors) to identify the city's most photogenic spots which are of particular interest to Instagram users.

In Girona's case, a total of 116 locations have been photographed. The popular points and, therefore, the favourites of Girona's IgersMappers are the Peixateries Velles bridge, the Cathedral, the city walls, Devesa park, Passeig de Canalejas, Plaça de Catalunya, Plaça de la Independència, the Gómez, Pont de Pedra, Sant Agustí and Sant Feliu bridges and Pujada de Sant Domènec.

This map created by instagrammers can be accessed using different platforms at [ GIRONA IGERSMAP ]. Girona City Council has collaborated in the project by producing a printed version of the map, which is available from the city's tourist offices.
