Girona Fashion Week, an event for fashion lovers and professionals
17/03/15 | The Agimod Association and Girona City Council present the first edition of Girona Fashion Week, which will take place from 18 to 21 March 2015.
Fashion shows, talks and workshops will turn Girona into the capital of the fashion sector from 18 to 21 March. In its first edition, Fashion Week is bringing renowned designers such as Celia Vela, Jordi Dalmau and Teresa Ripoll to the city to show their creations alongside the work of the country's emerging young talent. In addition to the catwalk shows, there will also be talks on the textile industry and style, as well as workshops on sewing, costume jewellery and make up, and stands set up by different brands and designers between the Pont de Pedra bridge and Plaça de la Independència. All the activities and fashion shows will be free of charge, but tickets must be reserved in advance on the website [ GIMODA ]. At the same time, the Municipal Theatre will be hosting several exhibitions on the history of Girona's textile sector, such as Weaving history and Threads of complicity, a blend of fashion and art created by the artist Begoña Ramos and the designer Celia Vela.
Of course, the central element of Fashion Week will be the catwalk shows. The designer from Figueres Celia Vela will kick off the shows on the 18th at 20.30 in the Municipal Theatre. There will also be talks given in the Josep Irla Auditorium in the offices of the Autonomous Catalan Government and workshops held in the Barri Vell-Mercadal Civic Centre, among other activities that complement a programme of events and activities with a common goal: to promote and publicise the fashion world in our region.
Other highlights of this event are the exclusive gastronomic menu organised for the occasion by the Girona Hotel and Catering Association which will be offered by more than twenty of the city's restaurants, and a prize draw to win dinner for two run by the Roba Amiga cooperative, which will pick the lucky winner from those who have donated used clothing at the organisation's containers during Fashion Week. Finally, free guided visits leaving from the tourist office on La Rambla will be offered by the Girona Guides Association around the areas where Gimoda Fashion Week activities are taking place.
