Jerusalem ID is a project by Mapasonor + Domènec in which the city of Jerusalem is viewed as a laboratory of "suspended violence".
In conflicts, violence tends to be presented to us in a "spectacular" fashion. Unlike spectacular violence, suspended violence is silent and invisible, yet it radically affects 100% of the Palestinian population and prevents it from having a normal life.
In East Jerusalem (the Palestinian sector), the State of Israel implements a series of sophisticated strategies of suspended violence that form the content of this exhibition, ranging from the complexity of urban planning policies to humiliation based on the exploitation of Arab identity.
An example of this suspended violence is the Jerusalem ID, the identity document of the indigenous Palestinian population that has inhabited the city for centuries: it is only a residence permit and can be revoked at any time, preventing the exercise of citizenship with rights.
