Experience another history! Discover another way of immersing yourself in Girona’s history. We invite you on a long, exciting walk through the past, unearthing secrets and evoking their emblematic protagonists. Furthermore, the City History Museum is a marvellous discovery in itself. It is right in the heart of Girona’s old quarter, housed in the former convent of Sant Antoni, home to the Capuchin friars in the 18th century. Experience another history from its unusual rooms and its extraordinary nooks and crannies.
Let yourself be seduced by Girona and its City History Museum! Come and Take a stroll around!
The Museum invites active participation in a tour exploring Girona as it was through the ages, from prehistory down to our own time, a tour that gives us clear insights into the development of the history of the city and of its leading figures. You can choose between a wide range of activities to suit all tastes, regular events for children and their families, and programmes for schoolchildren adapted to suit the various levels in the education system, and educational support and learning materials are also provided in order to facilitate access to information on the contents of the tour and to help the teachers to prepare their visits.
The schedule of events is designed by the Communication Service, and the activities are led by specialist educators.
If you wish to apply to use the Coal Cellar and Cistern rooms, the first step is to check with the Museum Management about room availability and allocation conditions. Room reservation can then be applied for by filing a form with the City Hall’s Incoming Document Registry (at Plaça del Vi, 1 - Girona) or by applying on-line.
