05 APRIL 2011 – 04 SEPTEMBER 2011 (Espai polivalent)
The exhibition takes its inspiration from a painting by Jaume Faixó, which is shown here together with abstract pieces by artists Ansesa Gironella, Ester Baulida, Montserrat Costa, Gabriel, Jordi Gispert, Lluís Hortalà and Torres Monsó.
Girona City Council recently presented a set of initiatives centred on the municipal fonds of contemporary Girona art, notably including the creation of the Contemporary Space room in the City History Museum, specifically dedicated to displaying this rich collection. The fonds has been put together through donations, purchases and, above all, the programme of exhibitions taking place in different municipal spaces with the participation of the main contemporary artists of Girona city.
The exhibitions in the "Incursió" cycle (four in 2011) are centred on the four themes of intellect, spirituality, introspection and nature. The name of the cycle comes from one of the works inspiring this initiative, Incursió (1991), a painting by Jaume Faixó.
