Jaume Vicens Vives and the new history
An exhibition on the person and the work of this reformer of Catalan and Spanish 20th century historiography.
09 APRIL 2010 – 30 MAY 2010 (Sala d'exposicions)
Vives Year will be celebrated throughout the whole country within the framework of the centenary of the birth and the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Jaume Vicens Vives, a historian who, like so many other 20th century intellectuals, responded to the concerns of his time and whose work was not only the fruit of his historical moment, but also of his desire to intervene in his surroundings and to shape the present.
Vives¿ work comprises both his research contributions and his actions on multiple fronts (academic and publishing, but also political) to build platforms to tackle the reforms necessary in the discipline of history in post-Civil War Spain.
