The Jewish quarter of Girona

One of the 10 jewels of Catalan Heritage


Descobrir and Sapiens magazines and the Agència Catalana del Patrimoni Cultural organize between 16 March and 18 May, a popular contest where the Catalans will vote for their favorite monument among 10 selected places that include the Jewish Quarter of Girona.

The 10 finalists monuments are: the Roman amphitheater in Tarragona, the Empúries site, the church of Sant Climent de Taüll and Romanesque Boi Valley, the monastery of Santes Creus, the monuments of Sant Pere de Rodes, Miravet castle, the Palace of Catalan Music of Barcelona, el Turó de la Seu Vella of Lleida, the Sagrada Familia and the Jewish Quarter of Girona.

That is why the number 218 is entirely dedicated to discover these 10 monuments. The magazine has published an extensive report by Judit Pujadó, which reviews the historical moments of the Jewish Quarter, the highlights and the main characters, and suggest to visit the Jewish History Museum and the streets of the Jewish Quarter of Girona.
