Fleeing the Holocaust. Catalonia and the Jewish refugees in the Second World War

Analysis of original documents from the Historical Archive of Girona

Martine Berthelot, from the University of Perpignan, made a research through copying out original documents from the Historical Archive of Girona. The result of her investigation has been shown in the exhibition "Fleeing from the Holocaust, Catalonia and the Jewish refugees in the Second World War", which was able to visit in the Jewish History Museum of Girona till January 17th of 2016.

Starting from this research, in the Jewish History Museum we produced an interactive application that gathers an important amount of information and allowed us to draw the sociological profile of a group of more than a thousand of Jews who had found in Girona a place of shelter and welcome. Thanks to this investigation, we could put all their names in the map of the recovery of our historical memory.

Now, we put at the disposal of all the public the documentary database of the research through the same interactive application in our museum's website.
