Walter Benjamin conference in Girona

75th anniversary of the death of Walter Benjamin

Next month of June the Jewish History Museum will host the exhibition "Walter Benjamin. Exile constellations". This exhibition shows various documents, photos, files, texts, books... related to Walter Benjamin, who died in Portbou due to a Nazi persecution in 1940.

The exhibition will be organized by the Patronat Call de Girona, the Walter Benjamin Chair of the University of Girona and the Walter Benjamin Archive of Berlin, with the collaboration of the Exile Memorial Museum in La Jonquera.

As a prelude to the exhibition, the Walter Benjamin Chair of the University of Girona has organized a conference around the figure of Walter Benjamin, addressed to the students of the University of Girona and anyone who may be interested.

The conference, entitled Història i memòria a Walter Benjamin, will be given by Dr. Gabriel Amengual, University of the Balearic Islands, and will take place on Monday 27th April, at 8.30 pm , at the Music room of the Faculty of Arts.
