Girona's Jewish heritage has been presented to U.S. Jewish communities
Miami, March 13th, 2013
The president of the Council of Girona, of the Costa Brava Tourism Board and Vice President of the Board Call de Girona, Joan Giraut, along with the president of the Girona Chamber of Commerce, Domènec Espadalé, with the director of Patronat Call de Girona, Assumpció Hosta compose the delegation that has traveled to Miami to promote the Jewish heritage of Girona, Besalu and Castelló d'Empúries to different leaders of the Jewish communities in the capital of Florida.
There have been presentations and meetings with a large representation of the Sephardic Union of Miami and Latin America, at the Sephardic Congregation of Florida (Temple of Moses), presided by Sabeto Garazi, as well as with leaders of The Shul, one of the largest US Orthodox congregations. In the frame of the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Fair, the delegation has also meet with different groups of Jewish business companies to explain the current status of the various heritage projects in the area of Girona to find ways to obtain financial resources. All meetings have been fruitful and all parts have committed to keep working in this direction. The delegation was also officially received by Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, Miami Beach Mayor Matti Bower Herrera Bower and by the Consul of Spain in Miami, Cristina Barrios.
