The Jewish Quarter of Girona in Google

The Jewish Quarter of Girona participates in a very ambitious project: Caminos de Sefarad. This project collected in a single platform, the Jewish Quarters of Barcelona, Besalú, Castelló d'Empúries and Tortosa, as well as 19 other Jewish quarters of the Balearic and the peninsula.

After a year of work on this platform, users all around the world can now visit and make virtual tours through the 24 cities of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters, stroll through their streets, discover outstanding heritage sites and cultural elements, and get to know the history behind all these, from one and the same platform: www.redjuderias.org. The Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters has incorporated the Google Maps technology, geo-positioning the different places of interest and providing them with their respective historical documentation, which is displayed once the user clicks on one of the signalled places on the map. Besides, users can visualise any of these points on street level thanks to Street View. In addition, the Jewish History Museum shows all the rooms.

The project, which is available in Spanish and English, has been realised with the collaboration of Google and the city councils of Ávila, Barcelona, Besalú, Cáceres, Calahorra, Castelló d'Empúries, Córdoba, Estella-Lizarra, Girona, Hervás, Jaén, León, Lucena, Monforte de Lemos, Oviedo, Palma, Plasencia, Ribadavia, Segovia, Seville, Tarazona, Toledo, Tortosa and Tudela.

Complementary information and direct access to the project is available at www.redjuderias.org . We would like to invite you to discover a very little known part of our history, by taking a tour through our Jewish quarters.
